The nuclear flasks containing waste is transported from the power station by road to a crane for loading onto a train that will take them to Sellafield in England.

Prior to 2001 the flasks were driven to Fairlie Railway Station and loaded onto the specialized train at a halt specifically for this task but the whole operation was moved to the Coal Terminal which utilized the railway spur on the Low level track.
