The stockyard occupies about 150 acres and could be extended if necessary. Ore and coal are laid out in piles and are reclaimed by three stacker / reclaimer machines. Each machine is served by a conveyor belt fed with raw materials transported automatically from the jetty conveyor system.

Each stacker/reclaimer is geared to the respective loading and unloading speeds of the jetty equipment, ie, stacking at 6,000 tonnes an hour and reclaiming at 4,000 tonnes an hour. The present stockyard arrangement can hold 1,750,000 tonnes of ore and 250,000 of coal. The terminal is capable of an annual throughput of upto eight million tonnes a year of ore. This could, if required, be increased by further investment to  over 16 million tonnes.
