On the hill below Biglees and above the High level Railway Halt is a large rectangular structure that is quite imposing to those who see it. There was many rumors over the years that it was some sort of military control room or an emergency control room for the power stations but this is not the case.

The structure is in fact a Clear Water Tank, built in 1976 for British Steel. It is 40m (L) x 34m (W) x 17m (H) and 50 meters deep and supplies water for the sprays that operate within the main stockyard to stop dust.

The water is drained into the building from the hills and fed into the main site by underground pipes.
